Description

This wine is fabulous in the vintage, although certainly less profoundly concentrated and extracted, as well as structured, compared to the 2013, which was off-the-charts fabulous. This is a brilliant wine, charming, with front-end loaded plum, blackcurrant and black raspberry fruit interwoven with graphite, tar and truffle notes. The wine has sumptuous texture, sweet, velvety tannin, and a long, full-bodied finish. It should drink well for at least two decades. WA 95

Tasting note

The 2014 Peter Michael 'Les Pavots' Estate Red is a testament to the art of blending, showcasing a near-black ruby color with vermillion highlights. The nose is greeted with a deep bouquet of cacao powder, potpourri, black cherry, blueberry, and licorice, with nuances of cedar, cigar box, black tea, graphite, vanilla, and black truffle, all crowned with a stylish ‘garrigue’ touch. On the palate, this wine is extremely full-bodied and elegant, mirroring the rich, ripe fruit impressions found in the aroma. The mouthfeel is dense and round, with supple tannins and earthy notes that lead to a long, satisfying finish. Aged for 17 months in 100% French oak barrels, this wine is a harmonious symphony of flavors that promises to evolve beautifully over time.
