The 2017 Pic Saint Loup Vieilles Vignes is a strong release after a hailstorm destroyed the 2016 vintage. Concentrated, dark and intense, it offers up notes of crushed stone, almost chocolaty notes of super ripe fruit and hints of blueberries and cassis. A blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache, it's full-bodied and rich, with a velvety texture and a long, long finish. It's a top example of the Pic St. Loup appellation and a relative bargain at $25 per bottle.
