Soul Hook: Pauillac power with Rothschild refinement — firm structure, layered dark fruit and a long, salty finish.
Why choose it?
- Estate pedigree -> Classic 1855-classified terroir for reliable ageing and value.
- Meticulous élevage -> 18 months in French oak delivers spice and integrated texture without overwhelming fruit.
- Concentrated yet precise -> Plush dark fruit framed by a mineral backbone; drinks beautifully over decades.
Winemaker & vineyard notes: From the 70-hectare classified vineyards of Château d’Armailhac (Baron Philippe de Rothschild), plantings sit on deep, gravelly terraces and clay-limestone pockets that produce wines of lift and refinement. High planting density and an average vine age near 46 years yield concentrated grapes. Harvest ran 8–27 September; the wine matured ~18 months in French oak (a significant portion new), balancing oak spice with varietal purity.
Sommelier's private note: On the first pour you’ll find dark currant and plum, a graphite edge and cigar-box spice. The mid-palate is sculpted — firm tannins that are ripe, almost silky, carrying flavours of mocha, dried herbs and a mint lift. It’s assertive now with air, but rewards patience — decant well if opening this year.
Occasion / Pairing: A showpiece for celebratory dinners — think roast beef or venison for family banquets, or a Cantonese-style beef feast where the sauce has depth and savour. Pairs superbly with aged cheddar or dishes featuring mushroom and reduced jus.
Competitive edge: Offers Pauillac-class punch and Rothschild cachet at a fraction of first-growth pricing — powerful, terroir-driven and built for cellar or immediate celebration.
