2021 Domaine Jacques Cacheux Vosne Romanee 1er Croix Rameau

Tasting Note: Bright red cherry and raspberry lift from the glass, supported by rose petal florals, subtle baking spice and a hint of forest-floor earthiness. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied with fine-grained, silky tannins, lively acidity and a mineral-tinged, persistent finish.
Producer Notes: From a small, family-run domaine in Vosne-Romanée, this premier cru reflects meticulous vineyard work and a focus on terroir expression. The team picks selectively and aims for balanced yields to concentrate flavour.
Winemaking Notes: Fermented with careful, gentle extraction and matured in French oak barrels with a portion of new wood to add structure while preserving fruit clarity. Elevage is patient, allowing integration of oak, spice and savory complexity before release.
Vineyard Notes: La Croix Rameau sits on mid-slope sites with limestone-clay components and good drainage; exposures and soils give ripe but nuanced fruit, subtle mineral lift and refined structure. Drinking window suggests the wine will blossom with several years in bottle but also rewards a short decant now.
