Description

A healthy, youthful dark plum/ruby/purple color is followed by a bouquet of smoke, barbecued meats, black currants and new saddle leather. With full body and sweet tannin, this 2003 is strutting its stuff. Although it is not as fine as the 1989, 1990, or 2000, it is a complex, classic Pauillac to enjoy over the next decade. WA 94

Tasting note

The 2003 Chateau Lynch-Bages is an opulent and seductive wine, showcasing superbly ripe fruit. This vintage is known for its deep, smoky, and dark fruit profile, with notes of tobacco, mocha, and cedar wood. The wine is well-balanced with fresh acidity, structured tannins, and a long, complex finish. The extreme heat of August 2003 was mitigated by timely July rains, resulting in a wine that is both powerful and elegant. Hand-picked and sorted grapes from the Garonne Gravel terroir were traditionally vinified in thermoregulated steel vats and aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which were new.
