Tasting note
A classic Médoc from a warm, memorable vintage, this bottle offers composed, savory aromas of cedar, tobacco leaf and cigar box layered over dark berry fruit and subtle forest-floor notes. The palate is medium-plus in body with good concentration, finely knit tannins and a bright, tangy acidity that keeps the finish fresh. Matured in oak, it shows integrated vanilla and spice rather than overt new-oak weight. Vineyard sites sit on limestone with clay and a high proportion of gravel, giving mineral lift and firm structure. Harvested mid to late September after a very hot summer, the wine balances ripe fruit soulfulness with disciplined structure—drink now with 30–60 minutes decanting or continue to cellar through the stated window.
Winery
Château Potensac is managed by the Delon family (owners associated with Léoville Las Cases) and sits on one of the higher points of the northern Médoc. The estate benefits from limestone subsoil overlain by clay and a large proportion of gravel—soils that produce wines with structure and mineral lift. For this vintage the fruit was harvested from 13 to 25 September and the wine received oak maturation to refine tannins and add subtle spice notes. The estate focuses on classical Médoc balance and age-worthy structure.
