Description
Producer note: Laurent Pillot enthusiastically describes 2015 as an "excellent vintage for both reds and whites and if it were possible to sign a contract to have another just like it, I would do so right now! We chose to begin picking on the 5th of September and had variable yields but overall, they were normal. I destemmed most of the fruit though I used 50% whole clusters for the Charmots and the Rugiens." I was quite impressed with the quality of the Pillot 2015s and in particular his range of wines from Pommard. Note that with the exception of the Charmots and Rugiens, the reds were bottled between September 2016 and February 2017.
Tasting note: More moderate though not invisible wood also displays hint of menthol on the layered combination of both red and dark berry aromas that exhibit plenty of earth character. There is an appealing sense of energy to the mouth coating and well-detailed flavors that possess a lovely mouth feel before concluding in a lingering, complex and well-balanced finish that exhibits much better integration of its wood.
