Tasting note: Mature and compelling, the 1986 Château de Fieuzal shows a bouquet of blackcurrant and ripe plum layered with cedar, tobacco, and well‑integrated vanilla from French oak. Secondary notes of leather, graphite and dried berry emerge with aeration. On the palate it is elegant and focused — medium‑full in body with polished, mellowed tannins, lively acidity and a savory, lingering finish.
Producer notes: Fieuzal emphasizes the unique energy of its terroir. The estate aims to express the diversity of its soils and micro‑plots through balanced, intensely precise wines that combine flavour and feeling.
Winemaking notes: Traditional Bordeaux vinification with attentive extraction and maturation in French oak. The wine is typically aged for an average of 12 months in barrels, producing refined oak integration and a confident but elegant profile.
Vineyard notes: Located in Pessac‑Léognan, the estate benefits from gravelly soils and a cool maritime influence. The varied parcels contribute complexity and a tension between ripe fruit and classic mineral/earthy notes. This vintage has developed tertiary character while retaining freshness.
