1998 Chateau Leoville Las Cases

The 1998 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases 'Grand Vin de Leoville' is a testament to the exceptional terroir of the former Léoville estate. This vintage reveals a medium to deep ruby-red hue, with a bouquet of lifted cassis, intertwined with coffee and chocolate nuances. On the palate, the blackcurrant fruit is seamlessly integrated with clean cedary oak. The wine exhibits a lively acidity, fine tannins, and a mid-weight structure, while maintaining a balanced alcohol level. The finish is notably long, showcasing the wine's elegant poise. A two-hour decanting period is recommended to fully appreciate its complexity. Perfectly paired with roast lamb, grilled steak, mature cheeses, or a hearty mushroom risotto.
