A polished, approachable single malt presented in a gift set with a tea cup. The Balvenie 12 DoubleWood shows two-stage maturation: initial aging in American oak bourbon casks followed by a period of finishing in European oak sherry casks. Aromas open with honeyed vanilla, warm toffee and a hint of dried fruit, followed by gentle oak spice and citrus peel. On the palate it is smooth and rounded — creamy malt, soft caramel and nutty undertones with a balanced oak-driven spice. The finish is lingering, warm and gently drying. Producer notes highlight The Balvenie’s traditional on-site practices: maltings, a working cooperage and coppersmithing, plus careful cask selection that give the whisky its layered oak and honeyed character. Serve neat, or give it 10–20 minutes in the glass to unfurl; the included tea cup makes for a charming presentation in its gift format.

The Balvenie Distillery, located in Dufftown (Speyside), is known for maintaining traditional craft practices within a modern operation — floor maltings, on-site cooperage and coppersmithing. The DoubleWood 12 demonstrates their focus on cask management: marrying American oak (bourbon) maturation with a European oak (sherry) finish to build layered sweetness and oak spice.
