Tasting note

A sophisticated second wine from Château Lynch-Bages' estate, Echo de Lynch-Bages (2005) shows classic Pauillac character. Nose of blackcurrant and dark plum layered with cedar, cigar-box and dried tobacco; hints of graphite and gravelly minerality add precision. On the palate it is medium–full with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained oak and firm yet ripe tannins wrapped in savory spice. Winemaking notes: grapes are hand-picked and sorted, then aged for 12 months in one‑year‑old French oak barrels, preserving freshness while adding subtle oak structure. Vineyard: planted on Garonne gravel soils that give lift and minerality. Drink now through the declared window as the wine continues to soften and develop tertiary tobacco, leather and forest-floor notes. Best served after a gentle decant and paired with roasted or grilled red meats and aged cheeses.

Winery

Château Lynch-Bages, run by the Famille JM Cazes, is a fifth-growth Pauillac estate with a long reputation for powerful, structured wines. Echo de Lynch-Bages has traditionally been the estate's second wine, offering approachable early-drinking expression while reflecting the gravelly terroir and careful winemaking of the domaine.
