Tasting Note: A barley-gold single malt that opens with a perfumed, almost fragrance-like nose — vanilla ice cream, fresh cut oak and delicate florals lead, while orange oil, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg weave through. The palate is voluptuous and silky: sweet fruit, vanilla, rich fruit cake and notes of apricot, pear and crisp green apple, finishing with light resinous oak and persistent milk chocolate and citrus echoes. Producer Notes: Edition No.3 is part of The Macallan’s Edition Series, an annual exploration of cask and aroma. For this release the house collaborated with master perfumer Roja Dove to interrogate how scent shapes whisky experience. The result is a small-batch, carefully curated expression that highlights aroma as a primary storytelling element. Winemaking / Maturation Notes: Matured in a bespoke combination of European and American oak casks, Edition No.3 showcases the interplay of sweet, resinous oak and vibrant fruit. The spirit is bottled at a bold 48.3% ABV to preserve aromatic complexity and mouthfeel. Small-batch production and a T-top cork closure reflect The Macallan’s artisanal approach. Vineyard / Terroir Notes: While not a wine, the whisky’s character is tied to Speyside’s gentle landscape — spring barley from nearby fields, pure local water and the region’s cool, steady cellar conditions. The selection of seasoned oak casks is the equivalent of a grower’s careful terroir choice: it shapes texture, spice and colour throughout ageing.
