Tasting Note: A concentrated, site-driven wine from Bendigo with aromas of black cherry, plum and darker blue fruits lifted by floral perfume and a graphite-slate minerality. On the palate it’s medium-full, showing succulent fruit framed by fine, persistent tannins, juicy acidity and layered baking spice — cinnamon, clove and a touch of vanilla from careful oak use. Savory undernotes of mushroom and thyme add complexity and length. Producer Notes: Crafted by Valli Wines in small volume, this bottling reflects single-vineyard character and Central Otago’s cool, stony terroir. Total production is limited, and the wine is sealed under screwcap to preserve freshness. Winemaking Notes: Fruit from Lakefront Terrace saw approximately 35% whole-bunch fermentation. The wine was matured roughly 11.5 months in French oak, around 25% new, contributing structure and subtle toast without overwhelming the fruit. Vineyard Notes: Bendigo’s elevated, well-drained soils yield concentrated, expressive fruit with cool nights that retain acidity and produce bright aromatics. The site’s rocky soils and exposed aspect lend a taut mineral spine and savory complexity. This is wine with power and focus — ready to enjoy after an hour in the glass but built for medium-term cellaring.
