Tasting note
Tasting note: Deep ruby with purple hues. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, truffle, tobacco and a hint of forest floor lead to a concentrated, layered palate. The texture is plush and slightly creamy, lifted by mineral threads and supported by firm, structured tannins that promise long ageing. Producer notes: From the small, famously meticulous estate led by Denis Durantou, the 2017 bottling reflects low yields and intense concentration after a challenging vintage. Winemaking notes: Fermented with careful extraction and matured in French oak (significant new oak influence) for extended élevage to build structure and oak complexity. Vineyard notes: Sourced from the estate's clay-and-gravel parcels on Pomerol, hand-harvested (mid-September), soils that bring silkiness and minerality to the ripe fruit. Best enjoyed after decanting; gives beautiful development over the first few hours in the glass and will reward medium- to long-term cellaring.
