Tasting Note: The 2005 presents a classic Pessac-Leognan profile — smoky, asphalt and scorched-earth notes frame ripe black cherry and cassis, with touches of tobacco, roasted herbs and a faint cocoa-caramel nuance. Medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannins and lively acidity, it feels structured and focused rather than flamboyant. Producer & Context: This is the final vintage released under the La Tour Haut-Brion name before the vineyard was folded into La Mission Haut-Brion. Produced in very limited quantity, it reflects the estate’s gravelly terroir and disciplined style from a top Bordeaux vintage. Winemaking Notes: Fermentation and élevage follow classical Graves practices with careful extraction to preserve freshness; the wine spent time maturing in French oak, gaining cedary spice and polished tannin grip without losing primary fruit clarity. Vineyard Notes: Sited in the Pessac-Leognan area, the vineyard benefits from well-drained gravelly soils and the moderating influence of the nearby estuary, producing concentrated fruit with mineral-edged structure. Serving: Best enjoyed after a short decant to allow the tobacco and earthier notes to integrate. Matches perfectly with grilled or roasted red meats and aged cheeses.

Produced under the umbrella of Domaine Clarence Dillon and vinified at the La Mission Haut‑Brion facilities, this wine comes from a small, historically respected estate in Pessac‑Leognan. The property has long favoured precise, terroir-driven wines that balance ripe fruit with earthy, mineral undertones.
