Tasting Note: Deep garnet-purple, La Dame de Montrose 2019 opens with bright, evocative aromas of black raspberries, boysenberries and cassis, underpinned by violet, cedar, tobacco leaf and a spicy, slightly roasted note. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied with a fine-grained, silky texture, firm dark tannins and enough freshness to balance concentrated dark-fruit layers. The finish is long, spicy and mineral-tinged. Producer Notes: La Dame de Montrose is the estate’s second label, created in 1983 as a tribute and made to the same rigorous standards as the First Wine. It reflects the château's terroir in a more immediate and approachable style, typically reaching maturity sooner. Production represents roughly 40–45% of the estate's annual yield. Winemaking Notes: Fermented and matured for approximately 12 months in French oak, this bottling shows careful oak integration—toast and spice framing rather than dominating the fruit. Bottled under cork and designed for near- to mid-term enjoyment while retaining cellar potential. Vineyard Notes: Château Montrose benefits from a single, contiguous 95-hectare estate surrounding the château and cellars. The terroir is characterised by gravel and sand over a clay-rich subsoil with excellent natural drainage toward the estuary; these 'elite cores' provide deep water reserves and ideal conditions for producing concentrated, structured wines.
