Tasting note
This 2022 Saint-Pierre from M. Chapoutier delivers a focused, energetic expression typical of Cornas. The nose opens with ripe mulberry and black-fruit aromas edged by cured-meat and dark pepper notes, while the palate shows concentrated fruit framed by very refined, driving tannins. Minerality and stony precision carry through to a long, brilliant finish. Producer notes: Crafted under the stewardship of Michel and Marc Chapoutier, this cuvée reflects the estate's low-intervention, biodynamic philosophy and respect for terroir. Fruit is harvested from steep, sun-exposed terraces in the Saint-Pierre lieu-dit. Winemaking notes: Fermentation proceeds with indigenous yeasts and gentle extraction to preserve aromatic purity; the wine receives élevage in French oak, including a portion of new wood, to provide structure without overpowering the mineral core. Vineyard notes: Vines are planted on steep granite slopes above the Rhône, where low yields and high sun exposure concentrate flavors and produce wines with firm structure, bright acidity and strong mineral drive. Drink now after a generous decant or cellar through the next decade.
