2015 Chateau Pontet-Canet is a remarkable wine with an impressively intense color and a complex nose dominated by fresh fruit aromas. On the palate, it is powerful, vibrant, and incredibly smooth, sustained throughout by a freshness that imparts a deliciously succulent finish. The wine is crafted by Jean-Michel Comme and consultant winemaker Michel Rolland, under the ownership of Alfred Tesseron. The vineyard spans 81 hectares and is certified organic and biodynamic, with soils composed of Quaternary gravel. The 2015 vintage experienced a wet winter and a damp May, followed by two months of uninterrupted heat and drought. Despite considerable rain in mid-September, the grapes remained in excellent health due to the thickened skins from the summer heat. The wine undergoes manual sorting and destemming, alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and a 4-week maceration with soft punching-down, followed by malolactic fermentation in vats. It is aged for 18 months in French oak and amphora.
