Tasting Note: Pale straw with green highlights. The 2021 displays an elegant bouquet of candied lemon, lime zest, green apple and ripe white peach, layered with pineapple and blossom honey. A light flinty/mineral thread and gentle toasted-oak spice frame the aromatics. On the palate it is medium–full, with bright, penetrating acidity, creamy lees texture from bâtonnage and a refined oak backbone. The finish is long, saline and mineral-driven with citrus clarity. Producer Notes: Produced at Château Pape Clément under Bernard Magrez, the estate follows parcel-based viticulture with natural grass cover, oxen- and horse-drawn ploughing in places and integrated pest management; certified Terra Vitis and HVE3. Winemaking Notes: Manual harvest in two passes. Whole-berry pressing under inert atmosphere, gravity transfer to French oak barrels; primary fermentation and 16 months ageing in oak with lees stirring. Approximately 15% of the wine matured in egg-shaped concrete tank to preserve freshness and textural lift. Vineyard Notes: Careful canopy work (debudding, removal of side shoots, green harvesting) and low-intervention parcel management deliver healthy fruit with clear aromatic purity and ripe acidity. The combination of gravelly Pessac-Leognan soils and attentive farming yields a wine that balances richness with minerality. Serving: Give about 45 minutes of aeration if opened young to round the oak edges, serve chilled but not ice-cold (10–12°C).
