Tasting Note: The 2016 Haut‑Bailly “Harmony” opens with a classically Pessac‑Léognan bouquet of ripe black fruits—blackcurrant and plum—lifted by cedar, tobacco leaf and a cool graphite mineral streak. On the palate it is medium‑plus in body with a silky entry, concentrated dark-fruit core, fine-grained tannins and a lively acid spine that keeps the finish precise and persistent. Producer Notes: Harmony is the approachable expression from Château Haut‑Bailly, crafted to mirror the estate’s hallmark elegance in a more immediate style. The estate’s attention to balance and restraint is evident: ripe fruit framed by cool-climate freshness and refined oak. Winemaking: Fermented in temperature‑controlled vats with careful extraction to preserve aromatic clarity. The wine spends time in French oak barrels (a portion in new oak) for gentle integration, producing polished tannins and a subtle spice overlay without overpowering the fruit. Vineyard: Fruit is sourced from Haut‑Bailly’s well‑drained gravelly soils in Pessac‑Léognan, benefitting from Atlantic breezes and meticulous vineyard work—low yields, hand-harvested grapes and rigorous selection—resulting in concentrated flavours and a clear sense of terroir.
