Tasting note
A hallmark expression of the famed Maotai region, this 2024 Kweichow Moutai Baijiu (53% ABV) offers an assertive sauce-aroma profile: layered savory soy and fermented notes mingle with toasted sesame, dried fruit and delicate floral incense. On the palate it is full-bodied and viscous, warming from the very first sip with a pronounced umami backbone and complex secondary notes of roasted grain, spice and gentle sweetness. Produced through solid-state fermentation with traditional daqu starters, multiple distillation cycles and careful aging and blending in local cellars, each bottle reflects the unique terroir of the Chishui River valley—humid, fog-kissed hills and mineral-rich soils. Best enjoyed in small sips at room temperature; allow about 10 minutes after opening for the aromatics to settle. Pairs superbly with richly seasoned Chinese dishes, roast meats and bold, savory flavours.
