Deep, classically Pauillac in profile: a dark red core with concentrated blackcurrant and cassis tones lifted by subtle violet and mandarin peel hints. The palate shows elegant concentration, firm yet rounded tannins and a saline, mineral thread that carries through a long, velvety finish with a touch of dark chocolate and cedar. Producer notes highlight hand harvesting, two selections around de-stemming, and a long maceration of about three weeks. Aged 18 months in French oak, this 2006 reveals refined power and aging potential — approachable now with aeration but likely to reward further cellar time.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac with a longstanding reputation for classical Médoc wines. Planted on very deep coarse gravel, the estate works old vines (average around 38 years) and emphasizes low-yield, hand-harvested fruit. Their winemaking favors traditional selection, extended maceration and élevage in French oak, producing wines noted for structure, minerality and longevity.
