Tasting Note: Deep ruby with a bright rim, this Pauillac opens with savoury plum and cassis, backed by sweet black cherry and a lively note of candied orange zest. The palate is concentrated and juicy, framed by ripe, fine-grained tannins and a noble oak signature leading to a long, slightly nougat-tinged finish. Producer & Estate: From the historically respected Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste in Pauillac — a family-run estate under the Borie stewardship — this second label expresses the estate's classic focus on structure and ageing potential. Winemaking: Hand-harvested fruit undergoes two successive selections before and after destemming, followed by an extended maceration of about three weeks. The wine is aged 14–16 months in French oak (approximately 45% new barrels), which brings polished cedar and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit. Vineyard Notes: Vines are planted on very deep coarse gravel soils that encourage drainage and concentration. The harvest (21 Sept – 5 Oct) is managed for optimal ripeness and purity, overseen by the vineyard team and viticulturist for consistent quality. Cellaring & Service: Built to age, this 2018 will reward short to medium-term cellaring; if drinking now, decant 60–90 minutes to open up. Serve at 16–18°C with robust red-meat dishes or mature cheeses.
