A restrained, mature expression from Château Margaux's second label, this 1988 offers classic Margaux poise. Aromas of black fruits, cedar, leather and tobacco lead to a balanced palate with silky texture and refined tannins — the bottle-aged smoothness noted by the producer is evident. The wine was matured in French oak and shows developed tertiary layers of forest floor, graphite and savoury spice. Vineyard notes from the vintage: a mild winter and wet spring gave way to a hot, dry late season; picking began on 3 October. Ready to drink now, it rewards gentle decanting and pairs beautifully with hearty red meats and aged cheeses.

Château Margaux — a First Growth estate renowned for finesse and terroir-driven wines. The Pavillon Rouge is the estate’s second label, produced under the supervision of the château team and historically vinified and matured in French oak.
