On the nose, expect spring blossom, citrus peel and airy white florals; the palate delivers concentrated extract and a succulence that is lifted by razor-sharp acidity. A hint of spice and pronounced slate-driven minerality frame a long, pure finish, showing both immediate charm and impressive ageing potential. Producer notes: From the acclaimed Markus Molitor estate, this bottling comes from the famed Urziger Wurzgarten site — steep, well-exposed slopes with slate-rich soils. The estate favours meticulous vineyard work, low yields and selective late harvest picking to achieve ripeness and concentration while preserving freshness. Winemaking: Hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted and usually fermented cool to preserve aromatic lift. Molitor combines traditional cellar discipline with low-intervention techniques: spontaneous or selected yeast fermentations, maturation in stainless steel and large neutral vessels, and gentle handling to retain tensile acidity and purity. Vineyard notes: Urziger Wurzgarten’s steep, south-facing terraces of Devonian slate provide warmth and reflective minerality. Soils and microclimate promote ripe fruit flavours that are balanced by the site’s piercing acidity. This wine rewards short decanting (about 30 minutes) to open up, and will cellar gracefully for decades.
