Colour: amber honey. Nose: rich dried fruit (raisin, sultana), warming ginger, orange peel and stitched layers of clove and nutmeg. Palate: lush and rounded — notes of caramel, vanilla and butterscotch from American oak, balanced by the subtle spicy backbone from European sherry-seasoned oak: warm oak spice, soft citrus lift and a touch of toffee. Finish: long and warming, ginger and sweet orange linger. Producer notes: matured for 18 years in hand-selected American and European sherry-seasoned oak casks; American oak lends delicate vanilla, citrus and butterscotch while European oak brings that classic Macallan spice. Winemaking/distilling notes: distilled at The Macallan and married from two complementary cask styles to achieve a sweeter, warmer profile with depth and balance; bottled at 43% ABV with a T-top cork. Serve neat or with a few minutes of open air — or 15 minutes in a tulip glass — to let the aromatics unfurl; add a splash of water to reveal hidden orange and spice notes. A superb contemplative dram for dessert pairing or slow sipping.

The Macallan Distillery — part of the Edrington Group — is renowned for its rigorous cask selection and snowballing house style built around sherry-seasoned oak. For this 18-year-old expression, The Macallan marries spirit matured separately in hand-crafted American and European oak casks seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry. The American oak brings vanilla, citrus and butterscotch; the European oak delivers the classic Macallan spice and depth. The result is a balanced, mature single malt with warm, sweeter character and long finish.
