Tasting note
Bright and poised, this Montagny Premier Cru opens with lifted lemon zest, green apple and white blossom aromas, then reveals a chalky mineral core and a hint of toasted almond. The palate is medium-bodied with lively acidity, a silky mid-palate and a persistent, saline-tinged finish. Producer notes: crafted by Château de Davenay from one of the estate’s prized Premier Cru parcels, the wine expresses the cool-climate freshness and limestone character of Montagny. Winemaking: gentle pressing, fermentation in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak with some élevage on fine lees to build texture without overwhelming fruit purity. Vineyard: La Grande Pièce benefits from shallow, mineral-rich soils and a sun-exposed aspect that provides ripe aromatics while preserving vibrant acidity. Serve slightly chilled after a short decant to open the aromatics and round the texture.
