Tasting note: Bright, refined and energetic — this Mercurey Premier Cru opens with an intense yet controlled nose of raspberry, bramble and red currant, edged by white pepper and a discreet smoked/vanillin lift. On the palate the attack is lively and fresh, with a nervous tension that soon broadens into silky, well-structured mid-palate weight. Red fruit evolves into darker cherry and a hint of liquorice on a chalky, salivating finish. Producer notes: Domaine Meix-Foulot is a family-run estate that prefers subtlety over flash; their wines show terroir clarity and measured extraction. Winemaking notes: Gentle sorting and careful élevage in well-judged oak have added spice and a faint smoky frame without overwhelming the fruit. Tannin handling is precise — present but integrated.
