Description

The 2013 Opus One, a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, is a beauty. Velvety textured, without a had edge to be found, notes of crème de cassis, blueberry, subtle wood and floral notes gently rise from the wine’s dense purple color. Beautifully full-bodied and extraordinarily elegant and pure, this is certainly one of their great achievements over the last 37 years. The wine has an exquisite finish and can be drunk now or cellared for 25-30 years.

品嚐筆記:2013 年份以黑莓與黑醋栗為主調,伴隨玫瑰花香、茴香與溫暖的烘焙香料;輕搖杯後出現摩卡、雪茄盒與雪松的層次,巧克力與香草的餘韻細長。口感從柔滑的入口開始,逐步展現集中果心,單寧細緻如絲,酸度帶動整體節奏,結構平衡且回味悠遠。 酒莊與葡萄園:作品一號出自兩位名家共同的理想,酒莊位於 Oakville 西段,旗下四塊園地包括著名的 To Kalon 以及環繞酒莊的 Ballestra 與 River 地塊。園中以人工採收為主,兼採傳統與現代葡萄栽培技術,重視在田間即可保留果實細節。 釀造手法:此酒經 18 天浸皮、在全新法國橡木桶中陳放約 17.5 個月,使得木香與果實緊密結合。2013 年為早春偏暖、開花理想的一年,收成期壓縮但品質集中。建議提前醒酒一段時間再飲,或收藏數年以欣賞更多變化。

Tasting Note: The 2013 Opus One opens with an alluring bouquet of blueberry and cassis layered with rose petal, anise and warm baking spices. Notes of mocha, cedar and tobacco emerge with aeration, while dark chocolate and vanilla linger on the close. On the palate it offers a creamy entry that unfurls into concentrated black-fruit core framed by velvety, fine-grained tannins and lively acidity—balanced, structured and long on the finish. Producer & Vineyard: Born from the shared vision of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Opus One is produced from estate parcels in western Oakville, including holdings within the famed To Kalon site and surrounding Ballestra and River parcels. The estate practices hand-harvest and combines traditional viticulture with modern techniques where they aid quality. Winemaking & Ageing: Fermentation included an 18-day skin contact period followed by 17.5 months in new French oak, producing a richly oaked yet integrated profile. Harvest was completed between 5 September and 8 October after a warm, compressed growing season that yielded concentrated, expressive fruit. Drink now with careful decanting or cellar through the stated drinking window.

The estate vineyards lie in Oakville and are farmed with a mix of hand-harvested tradition and selective modern techniques under the guidance of the winemaking team.
