The 2017 Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a finesse styled wine with plenty of smoke, ripe red fruits, flowers and cigar box notes. Elegant, fresh, medium/full-bodied with lift and length, this wine is expected to develop more nuances and complexities over the next decade. The wine is beautifully balanced with a long, fresh, and finely spiced finish. The vineyard, with an average vine age of 42 years, is planted on Mindel gravel over a clay-limestone substrate, contributing to the wine's unique character. The wine is aged for 18-24 months in a combination of new and used barrels, tuns, concrete vats and terra cotta amphorae, adding depth and complexity to the final product.
