This 2014 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte is a full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated wine that has gained complexity, depth and softness over the years. It boasts loads of juicy, sweet, ripe, fresh, dark fruits, smoke, licorice and oak. The wine is best enjoyed after 4-6 years of bottle age. It is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and is fermented at 28°C in small wooden vats with extraction by manual punching down. It is then aged for 18 months in barrels, with aging on lees. This wine is a perfect match for red meat, game and poultry.
