This 2014 Opus One is a beautifully complex and intense wine, offering a symphony of flavors from wild blackberry and cassis to cherry, wild strawberry, and violet. Hints of Sichuan pepper, fresh herbs, and tea add depth, while notes of tonka bean, chocolate, caramelization, and bourbon vanilla create a rich, layered finish. The wine is well-balanced, with a beautiful finesse of the grain, tension, suavity, and juiciness. The tannins are elegant and fine, contributing to a good length.
