The 2021 M. Chapoutier Crozes-Ermitage Les Varonniers is a captivating wine with a deep garnet red appearance. On the nose, it reveals very ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, and raspberry, followed by hints of liquorice. The palate is ample and solid, with a delightful vanilla and jam finish. This wine is crafted from the oldest vines in the Crozes-Hermitage region, grown on granitic slopes and fluvial terraces. The vinification process involves long fermentation in small concrete tanks, and the wine is aged in oak casks for 14 to 18 months. This meticulous process results in a wine that can be enjoyed now or aged for several decades.
