Tasting note: Bold Islay peat meets a honeyed sweetness on the nose with smoky lemon rind, ginger and a thread of PX-sherry richness. On the palate a soft, rounded entry gives way to hot peat smoke, black tea, pepper and clove, with a touch of aniseed and oak spice. The finish is long, smoky and pepper-laced. Producer & distillation: Produced by Ardbeg on Islay and owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, An Oa is a no-age-statement single malt matured in a mix of virgin oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry and ex-bourbon barrels. Component whiskies are then married in Ardbeg’s French oak “Gathering Vat” to harmonise the intense flavours. Cork-stoppered and bottled at 46.6% ABV, it’s crafted to be approachable yet unmistakably Ardbeg. Vineyard/terroir notes: Born from Islay’s windswept peat bogs and salty coastal climate, the whisky carries the island’s smoky, maritime signature. The malts reflect peat levels typical of the distillery and the influence of different casks adds layers from sweet sherry to fresh oak spice. Service suggestion: Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open the aromatics. Give the glass 10–20 minutes to settle (recommended 15 minutes) to let the marriage of smoke, spice and sherry lift.

Ardbeg is a small, iconic Islay distillery renowned for intensely peated single malts. With a cult following, Ardbeg combines traditional floor-malting and peat-smoke character with modern cask management. An Oa was created to offer a slightly softer, more accessible Ardbeg while retaining the distillery's signature power.
