Tasting note: Pale salmon in the glass, Les Hauts de Smith Rosé 2024 opens with a fragrant bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry and citrus zest, lifted by white floral and subtle saline notes. On the palate it is bright and focused — crisp acidity drives flavors of red fruit, citrus peel and a touch of stone fruit, finishing clean with a lingering mineral-saline thread. Producer notes: From the Cathiard family's respected estate, this second-label rosé reflects the same attention to detail as the domaine's top wines: low yields, meticulous sorting and a focus on site expression. The result is a refined, food-friendly rosé that balances freshness and poise. Winemaking notes: Grapes are harvested early for freshness, handled with gentle extraction and cool fermentation to preserve aromatic clarity. Short skin contact and a combination of stainless-steel tanks and neutral vessels for ageing produce a wine with bright fruit, silky texture and restrained oak influence. A light lees contact adds subtle weight and mouthfeel without masking the wine's energetic acidity. Vineyard notes: Fruit comes from well-drained gravelly soils typical of the region, with Atlantic influence moderating summer heat. Sustainable viticultural practices and careful canopy management ensure ripe phenolic balance and vibrant aromatics, giving the rosé its distinct minerality and saline lift.
