Tasting note: Le Volte 2021 opens with generous dark-fruit aromas — blackberry, black cherry and red currant — lifted by pomegranate and a blood‑orange brightness. Savoury layers of dried herbs, balsamic and black‑olive notes weave through liquorice and cocoa accents. On the palate it’s immediate and approachable: a generous attack, vibrant acidity and chalky, well‑integrated tannins lead to a velvety, medium‑bodied mouthfeel and a long, spicy finish. Producer notes: Le Volte dell’Ornellaia expresses the Mediterranean generosity of the estate while remaining structured and poised. Conceived as a spontaneous, convivial wine, it reflects Ornellaia’s philosophy of balance — an everyday wine with noble intentions. Winemaking notes: The components are fermented separately in small stainless tanks to preserve individual character. Post‑fermentation the blend spends about 10 months ageing partly in used estate barrels and partly in concrete tanks, achieving a balance between tannic framework and fresh fruit expression. Vineyard notes: Sourced from the Ornellaia estate in coastal Tuscany/Bolgheri, the vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate and maritime breezes that help retain fresh acidity even in warm vintages like 2021. Soils and aspect contribute to ripe, concentrated fruit while maintaining aromatic lift. Serving: Best served slightly below room temperature (around 16–18°C). Decant 20 minutes for immediate drinking; it will also reward short cellaring through the drinking window (approx. 2023–2029).
