Elegant and structured from Inglenook’s Rutherford estate, the 2017 shows a ruby core with violet edges. Aromas and flavors of blackberry bramble and black cherry lead into savory notes of truffle, fennel and cocoa, while subtle cedar, vanilla and licorice emerge from 18 months in French oak (50% new). Hand-harvested fruit underwent 21 days of maceration in small fermenters, producing a tightly woven framework of fine, round, velvety tannins and lively freshness. Superb balance and a long, generous finish make this a wine to enjoy now with decanting or cellar for further evolution over the next decade.
