Tasting note
Krug 2008 Vintage Brut is a superb expression of a cool, classical year in Champagne: a golden, crystalline appearance that opens into a rich, layered perfume — honeyed notes, liquorice and menthol threaded with bright citrus zest and ripe orchard fruit. The House’s philosophy of choosing the parcels that best ‘play the music of the year’ is evident here: an intricate, textured palate with intense freshness, taut chalky minerality and a dense, almost tactile mouthfeel gained from more than a decade in Krug’s cellars. Made by traditional method, disgorged recently after extended ageing, this wine balances power and finesse with an astonishingly long, precise finish. Cellar-friendly yet imminently rewarding, it pairs brilliantly with shellfish, refined starters, rich cheeses and even restrained chocolate desserts.
Winery
Krug is a legendary Champagne House founded on the principle of expressive, individual vintages. Rather than simply selecting the 'best' parcels, Krug chooses the wines that best tell the story of the year and matures them long in its cellars to develop richness, harmony and finesse. Now part of LVMH, the House remains dedicated to meticulous blending and extended ageing that create depth, texture and exceptional ageing potential.
