Tasting Note: The 2013 Ulysses Vineyard is luminous and tightly woven, offering savory woodland strawberries and jasmine on the nose with waves of black cherry and crème de cassis on the palate. Mineral and graphite notes thread through cedar and subtle licorice, delivering a blend of purity and energy. The texture is refined yet firm — bright acidity provides lift while a confident tannic backbone gives structure and length.
Producer Notes: Crafted under the ownership and direction of Christian Moueix, this bottling reflects the estate’s ambition to combine Old World élevage thinking with Napa concentration and terroir clarity. The 2013 vintage shows the site’s ability to produce wines with both precision and staying power.
Winemaking Notes: Harvest took place from 10–13 September in a vintage marked by a dry spring and a warm, even ripening season. The wine is matured in French oak (a significant portion in new oak across recent vintages) with extended élevage to refine tannins and integrate oak while preserving freshness. Production is small (c. 960 cases) and bottling follows careful cellar ageing; closure is cork.
Vineyard Notes: The vineyard sits along Oakville’s bench, spilling over an alluvial fan at the foot of the Mayacamas Range. Soils are deep, gravelly clay loam with excellent drainage — conditions that favor concentrated, structured wines with distinct mineral detail and clarity of fruit.
