A concentrated, terroir-driven white from Avize, the 2018 De Sousa Coteaux Champenois shows ripe orchard fruit lifted by brisk citrus and chalky minerality. On the nose, scents of white peach, baked apple and lemon peel meet subtle toasted-almond and leesy brioche notes. The palate is rounded and creamy from lees ageing and gentle oak influence, while lively acidity keeps the wine focused and age-worthy. Expect a long, saline finish with lingering nutty and honeyed echoes. Ideal when given a short decant to open up richer aromas.
