Tasting Note: Deep garnet with a slight amber rim, this Pauillac shows concentrated notes of blackcurrant, plum pudding and dried berries edged by tobacco, cedar and dried herbs. With airing the aromatic profile expands to reveal leather and mineral layers. The palate is dense yet suave: integrated oak from 12 months’ maturation frames ripe fruit and flavoursome, silky tannins that lead to a long, elegant finish. Producer & Vintage: Bottled under the d’Armailhac name after restoration of the original label, the 1989 vintage benefited from exceptional weather — an early cycle and warm, dry summer with timely rain — producing a ripe, concentrated harvest (picked 12–24 September). Winemaking: Traditional Médoc vinification with élevage in oak (approximately 12 months), natural cork closure and careful cellaring. The wine has developed tertiary complexity while retaining freshness and definition. Vineyard Notes: From a 70-hectare, high-density estate on gravelly plateaus over clay-limestone, vines average around 46 years (with portions dating to 1890). Soils of the Levantines and Pibran plateaus contribute refinement and minerality; rootstocks are chosen for optimal balance and ripeness. The vineyard’s structure and age give lifted aromatics and an elegant backbone. Serve & Enjoy: Best decanted briefly to remove any sediment and to open aromatics. Pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats and mature cheeses.

Château d'Armailhac is a Médoc estate historically linked to the Rothschild family and classified in 1855. The property spans roughly 70 hectares on gravelly plateaus with clay-limestone subsoils. High vine density, carefully chosen rootstocks and a mix of old vines contribute to wines that balance refinement, structure and earthy minerality. Traditional winemaking and attentive élevage preserve terroir expression and age-worthiness.
