Tasting note

Chateau Pontet-Canet is a benchmark Pauillac classified growth with a biodynamic, organic ethos. Aromas unfurl from dark berry preserves to violets, baking spice and cedar; on the palate layers of concentrated black fruit and savory mineral tension sit alongside firm, grainy tannins and lively acidity. The house ageing combines new French oak with amphora and neutral vessels, delivering a textured mid-palate and a long, persistent finish. Hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, the wines show depth and great aging potential while offering early appeal with aeration.

Winery

Chateau Pontet-Canet (5ème Grand Cru Classé) is owned by the Tesseron family and is run with a strong commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture (Ecocert, Biodyvin, Demeter). The estate's gravely soils and rigorous, low-yield vineyard work feed grapes to a cellar that practices manual sorting, indigenous yeast fermentations and a mixed ageing program including new French oak barrels and concrete amphorae. Consultant winemaker input supports a modern yet terroir-driven style with long-term ageing potential.
