Tasting Note: Pale lemon with silver highlights, the 2019 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc opens with citrus zest, green apple and white peach, edged by honeysuckle and subtle tropical orange. Integrated oak contributes gentle vanilla and lanolin notes while a pronounced flinty minerality and a saline thread carry the finish. On the palate it is creamy yet lively—concentrated fruit framed by vibrant acidity and a long, finely textured finish. Producer Notes: A classified estate in Léognan with roots back to the 18th century, Domaine de Chevalier has been owned by the Bernard family since 1983 and is guided by Olivier Bernard’s pursuit of balance and precision. The white cuvée is celebrated as one of the world’s great dry whites. Winemaking Notes: Grapes are hand‑picked into small crates and harvested in multiple passes to reach optimum ripeness. After traditional cold settling in barrels, fermentation takes place in oak. The wine ages 18 months in barrels (35% new) with regular bâtonnage to build texture and complexity. Vineyard Notes: Graves gravel soils around Léognan lend stony minerality and excellent drainage; a coastal influence brings freshness and saline notes. Low yields and rigorous vineyard work favour concentrated, finely delineated fruit that ages exceptionally well.
