From one of Gevrey’s respected domaines, this 2002 En Motrot has gracefully moved from primary fruit toward more complex secondary and tertiary layers. The nose opens with dried black cherry, cedar spice and a pleasant thread of tobacco and leather; on the palate notes of forest floor, mushroom and a hint of bitter cherry unfold. Medium-bodied with polished, softened tannins and a lively spine of acidity, the wine finishes long with savory, mineral-driven echoes. The domaine’s careful élevage and focus on terroir clarity are evident: measured oak framing, restrained extraction and an expression that balances rusticity with finesse. Ideal now with roasted game, mushroom-forward dishes or mature cheeses.
