Tasting Note: Bright, focused and elegantly layered. Aromas of dark cherry, black raspberry and boysenberry give way to spiced plum, a floral lift and a line of citrus zest. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant, polished acidity and fine-grained, velvety tannins. A distinct mineral seam — stony clay and greywacke — threads through the fruit, while discreet oak brings baking spice and gentle smoke, finishing long and persistent. Producer & Vineyard: From the Clayvin single vineyard (site 5096) in Marlborough, this wine showcases a strong sense of place. The site’s stony, dry clay and greywacke soils and the cool maritime influence produce concentrated fruit with a taut mineral core. Winemaking: Crafted in small batches with careful, gentle extraction to preserve purity and finesse. Fermentation and élevage were handled to balance freshness with texture — oak used to add spice and support rather than dominate — resulting in a refined, site-expressive bottling. Cellaring & Serving: Best enjoyed now with a short decant (30–60 minutes) or cellared further. Versatile at the table, it pairs beautifully with richer fish, duck preparations and Asian-influenced sauces.
