品飲筆記:高原騎士18年帶來成熟櫻桃與微苦可可的成熟果香,蜜巢般的甜蜜和糖漬橙皮在舌面跳躍,尾端有溫柔的泥煤煙燻與礦質海風,構成層次豐富的口感。 酒廠與釀造:此款大量使用首次裝桶(first-fill)的雪莉風味歐洲與美國橡木桶(包含法國與美國橡木)熟成,讓果乾、香料和烘烤木質感更為突出。以43%酒精度裝瓶,採T型木塞封口,既守傳統又能保存香氣完整性。 熟成與桶陳:雪莉桶賦予深色水果、可可及蜜糖氣息;新的雪莉桶則帶來濃郁層次和穩定的橡木香,烘烤與香料感圓潤而不尖銳。整體單寧感適中,更多是溫暖的烘焙和焦糖化口感。 島嶼與田地(相當於葡萄園印象):來自奧克尼群島的風土——島上潮濕的海風、含有雜草與石質的泥炭地,以及當地烘麥方式,都塑造出這款酒特有的泥煤與薰香。入口飽滿、舌面有豐富中段,收尾則悠長且帶海鹽感。 品飲建議:建議純飲或加幾滴礦泉水,倒入杯中靜置15–30分鐘讓香氣舒展。搭配濃黑巧克力、藍紋起司或烤肉等味道厚實的食物會很合拍。

Tasting note: Highland Park Viking Pride 18 Year Old opens with a sophisticated medley of ripe cherries dusted in bittersweet cocoa, interlaced with freshly harvested honeycomb and candied orange peel. Underneath lies an elegant whisper of aromatic Orkney peat smoke and a hint of coastal sea spray that lifts the profile. Producer & distillation notes: Matured predominantly in a high proportion of first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks (including French and American oak), this release balances sweet dried-fruit richness with toasted spice and saline minerality. Bottled at 43% ABV and finished with a traditional T-top cork, it showcases Highland Park’s signature marriage of sherry oak influence and island peat. Maturation & cask work: The whisky spends extended time in seasoned sherry oak, which imparts dark cherry, raisins and cocoa tones, while first-fill casks amplify depth and resinous oak spice. The use of both European and American oak yields layered vanilla, toasted notes and a rounded tannic backbone rather than aggressive astringency. Terroir & production: Distilled on Orkney, the spirit reflects island character — barley malted and peated to Highland Park’s house style, matured beside salty sea air and shaped by local peat and heather aromas. The result is a full-bodied dram with rich mid-palate sweetness, a savory smoky thread and a long, elegant finish. Serve & enjoy: Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water; allow 15–30 minutes in a glass or briefly in a decanter to open up aromatic layers. Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, robust cheeses and smoked or roasted meats.

Highland Park Distillery, located on the Orkney Islands, draws on a long Orkney tradition and Viking heritage. Now part of The Edrington Group, the distillery is renowned for its use of locally influenced peat (often heather-rich), meticulous cask selection and a focus on balanced, sherry-driven maturation. Highland Park combines traditional floor-malting influences with careful oak management to produce richly layered single malts.
