Tasting note: Deep garnet in the glass, this Premier Cru opens with bright red cherry, wild strawberry and a fragrant violet note, then unfurls layers of red berry compote, forest-floor undergrowth and fine spice. The texture is silky and concentrated, supported by polished tannins and a mineral spine that carries a long, elegant finish. Producer notes: From Albert Bichot’s holdings in one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most celebrated climats, the 2016 bottling reflects the vintage balance — slightly softer than 2015 but with precise terroir expression. The careful selection and age-worthy profile make it enjoyable in its youth yet rewarding with cellaring through the 2020–2040 window. Winemaking notes: Grapes were hand-harvested and vinified with attention to gentle extraction to preserve aromatic lift. Aging on fine lees and maturation in well-managed oak has smoothed tannins while adding subtle spice and complexity without overshadowing the site character. Vineyard notes: Les Amoureuses is famed for its thin topsoils over complex subsoils; vines planted on well-draining slopes produce concentrated, perfumed fruit. The 2016 season — marked by spring frost in parts of Burgundy — yielded lower quantities but wines with appealing density and clear expression of site.
