The 2005 Chateau Branaire-Ducru is a magnificently rich wine with great balance. The powerful bouquet displays complex aromas of very ripe berries mixed with fresh fruit. The wood from 60% new barrels is completely incorporated into the wine. The palate is extremely dense and fleshy, with very full tannins that are in no way aggressive, leaving an attractive freshness on the finish with very long aromas. This wine is a testament to the continuous passion of several families over generations, making it one of the major wines in Saint-Julien.
