The 1998 Chateau Kirwan is a harmonious and full-bodied wine with wonderful aromas of cassis and berries, complemented by hints of spices. The palate is rich with fine tannins and a delicious fruity aftertaste. Produced from the best parcels of the vineyard with mainly gravel soils, the fruit is handpicked and sorted twice before being vinified in separate batches. The wine is aged for eighteen months in oak barrels, half of which are renewed every year. This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roast beef, mature cheeses, and duck confit.
