Tasting note: A textbook Margaux from a great 2009 vintage — deep ruby with violet hues, the nose opens to concentrated black fruits, cassis and wild blackberry, layered with tobacco, cedar, mocha and subtle floral lift. On the palate it is full-bodied and polished: lush, round fruit framed by fine, silky tannins, hints of dark chocolate, espresso and a lingering, multi-layered finish. Producer notes: Château Malescot St Exupéry is a 3ème Grand Cru Classé of Margaux, recognised for producing elegant, ageworthy wines that balance power and finesse. This vintage demonstrates both immediate charm and long-term potential. Winemaking notes: Fermented in concrete vats to preserve pure fruit expression, the wine was then aged for 18 months in oak, contributing toast and spice while keeping structure refined. Vineyard notes: From classic Margaux soils with good drainage and maritime influence, the estate’s vineyard work focuses on balance and ripeness, delivering concentrated fruit and finely textured tannins. Drinking window is broadly 2019–2040; decant for around 45 minutes to open up secondary aromas.
